About Knowthenet

Currently, internet users are faced with a wide range of disparate educational resources that deal with a broad range of topics that they may face when starting out on their personal or business journey on the internet. Knowthenet has been provided by Nominet as a central access point to help signpost these users to where to find relevant and useful information that enables them to have a safe and beneficial experience on the internet.

Nominet is the not-for-profit organisation that has managed .uk, one of the world’s largest internet registries, since 1996. With highly respected industry credentials, Nominet is entrusted with the safe, stable and secure management of the .uk internet name space. Nominet’s reputation for excellent customer service and considerable experience of running .uk means that the company is well placed to run knowthenet as an information resource that benefits all UK internet users.

Knowthenet is an educational and advisory portal to help individuals or businesses. It is a public service to support and guide you through the complexities of the internet, giving advice, best practice and explanation all the way.

The aim of the website is to provide an independent, authoritative place where anyone who has concerns or questions about the internet can find reliable and impartial information on a range of topics and issues.

  • Knowthenet provides advice and guidance to all internet users
  • Knowthenet promotes internet use, and help stimulate the overall use of the internet

As knowthenet is intended to be an information hub rather than a website providing specialist advice, we are unable to provide tailored advice for individuals on specific issues that we cover. We provide general advice and then point you to the experts who can offer you additional help with specific issues. A list of contact details for organisations who can provide specialist services and advice for a range of Internet issues is available.
